Filming for the second season of Big Little Lies, the Monterey-set HBO drama series, has officially wrapped, according to Instagram posts by the cast and crew.
Reese Witherspoon, who plays meddlesome mom Madeline Martha Mackenzie, took to Instagram to post her appreciation for her fellow cast, and shared some behind the scenes snaps:
Nicole Kidman, who plays lawyer Celeste Wright, even got a shirt with the women’s character names on it, and talked a little about what’s she learned filming Big Little Lies season two.
That’s a wrap on #BigLittleLies Season 2 filming! What a beautiful journey this has been with my Monterey 5 sisters and our passionate dedicated crew. Thank you HBO for the amazing opportunity and thank you Andrea Arnold for being our fearless leader, and of course the one and only Meryl Streep for believing in us. I love you all. xx
Despite scooping up more Emmys and Golden Globes than you can shake a stick at, Big Little Lies earning a second season was still a surprise last December. The second season has the added talents of Meryl Streep and American Honey director Andrea Arnold will be behind the camera on this one, replacing departing director Jean-Marc Vallée.
Laura Dern, who took a leading role as Renata Klein, paid tribute to the series’s new director, Arnold, and celebrated her female co-stars at the end of the 5-month shoot.
Big Little Lies has been announced to bow in 2019, and we’ll keep you updated on this series as it enters post-production.
