Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon’s entertainment division, revealed that the studio are about to close a deal with Blake Lively to produce a new streaming series..
Chatting at the Vanity Fair New Establishment Summit to the magazine’s Krista Smith, Salke said, “Blake … has a huge appetite for a big scripted show with a really interesting writer who I can’t talk about yet that she’s targeted who will bring to life a scripted show that will be excellent and culturally relevant and original and all those things, but it will also have a connection to a merchandising opportunity.”
Asked if the deal was closed, she said, “we’re a moment from done” – and as for whether Lively was aware of the announcement, Salke added, “Blake will be good with it. She’s in Rome right now, asleep.”
Who the mysterious writer Lively is working with remains to be seen and whether the A Simple Favour actress will star in the series as well as produce is unknown. If she does, however, star then it’ll be her first regular TV role since Gossip Girl.
