Riviera writer Sophie Petzal is heading to Channel 5 for her next project, Blood, a psychological crime thriller that will feature Line Of Duty‘s Adrian Dunbar. Virgin Media has snapped up the SVOD rights for the show, meaning that Virgin will have the boxset to share after Channel 5’s initial airing window.
TV Wise has shared this summary of Blood‘s story, which very much makes us want to watch it:
“Blood explores family, memory, and the impact the past can have on the present. Cat Hogan is an isolated woman on the run from her past, a past she is forced to confront when the sudden ‘accidental’ death of her mother, Mary, draws her back to the family she has spent the last ten years trying to avoid.”
Adrian Dunbar will factor into the story as Cat’s father, who, as the husband of the deceased, naturally pops into the frame as a suspect when Cat tries to determine the truth about her mother’s death.
Carolina Main, Ingrid Craigie, Diarmuid Noyes, Gráinne Keenan, Cillian Ó Gairbhí and Mark O’Regan will also feature in the show’s cast. The series was originally commissioned by Virgin Media Television in Ireland, and Channel 5’s acquisition of the drama will bring it to British audiences.
Blood will consist of six episodes, and we’ll bring you more news on the show as we hear it.
