The eight-part series is written and created by American TV writer Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files, Strike Back) and was commissioned earlier this year with the title Morton.

Melissa George (Alias, Grey’s Anatomy) will lead the cast as Sam, a “highly skilled operative for an elite private intelligence firm who survives an attempt on her life that may have been orchestrated by members of her own team”.

Adam Rayner (Hawthorne, Mistresses) will play Sam’s colleague and love interest, Aidan.

The cast also includes Stephen Dillane (Game of Thrones), Morven Christie (The Sinking of the Laconia), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost), Lex Shrapnel (Captain America: The First Avenger), Uriel Emil (Criminal Justice), Patrick Malahide (Billy Elliot), Stephen Campbell Moore (History Boys) and Oscar Kennedy (Toast).

Filming began earlier this month and will take place on location in Scotland, London and Morocco.
