The first trailer has arrived for Castle Rock, the horror/thriller TV series that will blend together several concepts from Stephen King’s books.
The title Castle Rock refers to a location in Maine that has cropped up in several of King’s books, including IT and Gerald’s Game. Speaking of IT, incumbent Pennywise actor Bill Skarsgard has a role in the show. Andre Holland from Moonlight is in it, too.
Fans of King’s work will no doubt spot loads of little Easter Eggs and references in the trailer, including nods to Cujo and The Shawshank Redemption. You can watch the trailer right here…
And to give you an idea of the plot, here’s the official synopsis:
“A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland.
“The series stars André Holland, Melanie Lynskey, Sissy Spacek, Billy Skarsgård, Jane Levy and Scott Glenn. Sam Shaw & Dustin Thomason developed the project for television and serve as executive producers along with J.J. Abrams, Ben Stephenson and Liz Glotzer. Castle Rock is from Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.”
American viewers will be able to watch Castle Rock on Hulu, with all episodes becoming available from July 25th onwards. The show doesn’t have a UK broadcaster yet, but we’ll let you know when it does.
