The Irish actor told SFX: “I’m actually playing an English vampire! Very, very posh. Very upper class. A stiff upper-lipped Brit, which is a bit of a push for me accent, but it makes it a lot more fun.”
Discussing how his character will differ from Aidan Turner’s Mitchell, Molony commented: “Hal’s not Mitchell 2. There’s a lot of back story to play with and I assure you he’s very, very different.”
He also hinted at Hal’s costumes: “At the start, I’m a tweed suits man. Pressed shirts and cufflinks. The best part about playing a vampire is you get all the best clothes. I know some people have raided Aidan’s wardrobe from last year, and helped themselves to some coats and some jackets.”
Molony joins fellow Being Human newcomer Andrew Gower (Monroe), who will play a vampire named Cutler.
The full interview with Damien Molony features in the new issue of SFX, on sale tomorrow.
Being Human creator Toby Whithouse gave some hints about Series 4 in June: “There will be lots of new faces, an old face, a genuinely shocking death, a new villain, a sort-of new kind of supernatural (though that could change… we’re very fickle…), a new writer and a journey to somewhere even we have never gone before.”
