The quintessentially English detective Richard Poole returns to BBC One with his investigative team to solve more murder mysteries on the idyllic Caribbean island of Sainte-Marie at 9pm on Tuesday 8 January.

The opening episode of of the eight-part second series sees Poole and his team tackle a seemingly impossible case when the owner of a former sugar plantation, Roger Seymour, is discovered with a machete in his back. The team soon realise that the history of the plantation is just as key to completing the puzzle, but with the island celebrating the festival of love, Erzulie, Sainte-Marie seems to be bringing out the unexpected in everyone – not least Richard and Camille.

Starring Ben Miller (Primeval), Sara Martins and Danny John-Jules (Red Dwarf), Series 1 launched on BBC One last October.
