Parks And Recreation star Nick Offerman is set to play a shady CEO in Devs, a new tech-based drama from Ex Machina and Annihilation director Alex Garland. And we’ve now heard that the 8-part FX series will shoot in the UK.
Garland, who also wrote Dredd and 28 Days Later, is set to make his TV debut by executive producing the series. This production will take place in the UK, according to the industry insider website The Knowledge, although the site’s report doesn’t elaborate on the where and when of it all.
Ex Machina and Crazy Rich Asians actress Sonoya Mizuno will star in the series as Lily Chan, a young computer engineer who suspects that a San Fransisco tech company named Amaya was responsible for her boyfriend’s death.
Offerman is playing the CEO of Amaya. Alison Pill of American Horror Story: Cult is playing Katie, a quantum physicist who’s the right-hand woman to Offerman’s character. Jin Ha, from Jesus Christ Superstar Live, is playing an ex-boyfriend of Lily’s.
The Good Wife‘s Zach Grenier is playing Amaya’s head of security and Ladybird‘s Stephen McKinley Henderson is playing a tech genius from the development division, while Pacific Rim: Uprising‘s Cailee Spaeny is playing another tech-savvy individual.
Working alongside Garland as executive producers will be his Ex Machina collaborator Scott Rudin and Annihilation alums Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich and Eli Bush.
We’ll bring you more news on this intriguing series as we have it. At the moment, the idea of Offerman playing a sinister tech genius seems very tantalising indeed, and it’s always good to hear that major productions are coming to the UK.
