Here’s an interesting slice of movie news: the next Die Hard movie, which is set to be called McClane, seems to be pressing ahead. A script draft was submitted this week, and it appears to have the producer feeling positive.
Speaking to Simon Brew, host of the Film Stories podcast and editor of the Film Stories magazine, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura offered an interesting update on McClane, which is set to follow Bruce Willis’ action icon in both the modern day and his youth.
According to di Bonaventura, the project is pressing ahead, and Len Wiseman of Die Hard 4.0 is destined for the director’s chair once again.
Further to that, the producer confirmed the existence of “a really good script that’s going into the studio this week”. Of course, being the film’s producer, he’s hardly going to say that the script sucks… but still, it’s nice to hear positive vibes coming from team Die Hard after the disappointment of the previous film in the franchise.
The studio “have not read it” yet, di Bonaventura stressed, but he did say this: “I would be confident saying I rated it, but it’s up to them”.
We shall follow the development of this movie with great interest. Could this be the turning point that puts the Die Hard series back on the right track? Our fingers very much remain crossed.
