Classic episodes of EastEnders will return to TV this summer, fans of the long-running soap opera will be happy to hear. UKTV’s Drama channel has nabbed the rights to show repeats of EastEnders from the very beginning.
The reruns, which will take fans back to the very first televised events from Albert Square, will air on Drama all throughout August 2018. It will start with a repeat of the very first episode, which originally aired over 33 years ago, on the 19th of February 1985.
The very first scene of EastEnders – which saw Den Watts (Leslie Grantham), Arthur Fowler (Bill Treacher) and Ali Osman (Nejdet Salih) finding Reg Cox close to death – will kick off the reruns on Drama.
For many fans, it will surely be a bittersweet experience to see Grantham on the screen again, given that he died earlier this month.
The classic episodes will air from midday on weekdays throughout August, on the Drama channel, and they will pop up on the UKTV Play catch-up service after each broadcast.
The Drama channel can be found in the following places…
