Piven will play American entrepreneur, Harry Gordon Selfridge, in ITV1’s ten-part series looking at the life of American entrepreneur, Harry Gordon Selfridge.

Set in London in 1909, Mr Selfridge is based upon author Lindy Woodhead’s book Shopping, Seduction and Mr Selfridge, the biographical account of Selfridge’s life and the story of his department store on Oxford Street.

The cast will also include Coronation Street’s Katherine Kelly as confident and alluring socialite Lady Mae, Frances O’Connor as Harry’s wife Rose, French actor Gregory Fitoussi (Spiral) as Harry’s flamboyant creative director, Aisling Loftus (The Borrowers) as shop assistant Agnes, Trystan Gravelle (Anonymous) as ladies’ man Victor, and Zoe Tapper (Desperate Romantics) as stage entertainer Ellen Love.
