Scottish acting icon Ewan McGregor, who is currently on the press circuit for Disney’s Christopher Robin, will read a CBeebies bedtime story on Friday 17th August at 6.50pm.
The star, who played the drug-addled Renton in two Trainspotting films and has the spooky Stephen King adaptation Doctor Sleep on his upcoming slate, will delight the children of our nation with a rendition of Everybody’s Welcome by writer Patricia Hegarty and artist Greg Abbott.
McGregor said this to the BBC:
“It’s such an honour and pleasure to join an incredible list of actors to read a CBeebies Bedtime Story to children all over the UK. I had a great time filming and I hope everyone enjoys watching it.”
And if you’re wondering what the story Everybody’s Welcome is about, GoodReads sums it up thusly:
“An adorable and timely parable about opening a welcoming door to those in need, with clever peek-through holes and panoramic pages to beckon young readers inside.
“Poor Frog’s pond has dried up and he has nowhere to live. Luckily, he meets friendly Mouse, who is just starting to build a new house. “Everybody’s welcome, no matter who they are,” explains Mouse. “Wherever they may come from, whether near or far.” As Frog and Mouse build a house together, they meet more animals without a place to live. Soon, they all join in to build a big, beautiful home where everyone is welcome, safe, and warm.
“In this sweet forest setting, children will learn how important it is to extend a generous hand to those in need, whether neighbours in crisis, a friend with a problem, or a family immigrating to a new country. It’s a timely, vital, and comforting story that will elicit useful conversations about caring, charity, and empathy.”
Tune into CBeebies at 6.50pm this Friday (17th August) if you want to hear McGregor’s soothing Scottish tones telling this timely story on your telly.
Disney’s Christopher Robin comes out on the exact same day.
