Fleabag series 2 might be inching closer to production, with a report suggesting that filming could resume on Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s hilarious and heartbreaking series later this summer. The show is a co-production between BBC Three and Amazon Studios.
The Knowledge, an industry site with a trustworthy reputation, reports that Fleabag series 2 is “eyeing” a summer production slot. The report also tells us that series 2 “will go into prep shortly”, and that “updates on key crew and specific filming dates” could follow in “the coming weeks.”
Waller-Bridge originally wrote Fleabag as a play, and she shot to stardom when the TV version earned massive amounts of acclaim. She took home the 2017 Bafta for Best Female Performance In A Comedy Programme, and went on to land a robotic role in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Now that her promotional requirements for Solo are reaching an end, Waller-Bridge’s fans will be thrilled to hear that Fleabag series 2 has a spot on the writer/actor’s agenda.
Waller-Bridge has also been busy working on Killing Eve, a spy thriller for BBC America, based on Luke Jennings’ Codename Villanelle novella series. We’re still awaiting news on the UK broadcast of that.
We’ll keep you updated as we hear more about Fleabag series 2. In all honesty, it’s one of the upcoming TV series that we’re looking forward to the most.
