HBO comedy: Flight Of The Conchords special and David Tennant’s Camping get release dates

HBO has set the release dates for a couple of high-profile comedy projects: Camping, starring David Tennant and Jennifer Garner, is set to premiere on October 14th; and the brand new Flight Of The Conchords special will debut on the premium cable channel on October 6th.

The comedy special from The Flight Of The Conchords also has a title now, which gives us a fairly good idea of what shape it will take: that title is Flight Of The Conchords: Live At The London Apollo, which very strongly implies that we’ll be watching a recording of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement’s recent tour show.

Bret and Jemaine announced the date with this little video…

Camping, which is a US remake of the Julia Davis sitcom, is an eight-part series headed up by Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner of Girls. Deadline shared this summary of the plot:

“A group of old friends arrives at the underwhelming Brown Bear Lake campsite to celebrate a landmark birthday, sparking heightened emotions, latent tensions (sexual and otherwise) and memories they’d rather forget. The obsessively organized and aggressively controlling Kathryn (Garner) gathers together her meek sister, her holier-than-thou ex-best friend and a free-spirited tagalong to mark husband Walt’s (Tennant) 44th birthday – and what was supposed to be a delightful, back-to-nature camping trip quickly becomes a weekend of tested marriages and woman-on-woman crime that won’t soon be forgotten.”

The dates to mark on your calendar, then, are October 6th (for Flight Of The Conchords and October 14th for Camping. Those are the American premiere dates for HBO, though it hasn’t been announced yet where either show will broadcast in the UK.

We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
