Ready for some more prestigious TV to squeeze onto your viewing schedule? Well, you’d better be! FX has today released a brand new, full length for Fosse/Verdon, a glossy limited series starring the brilliant Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams. You can watch the trailer here.
The series will delve into the romance between the actress/dancer Gwen Verdon (here played by Williams) and the filmmaker/choreographer Bob Fosse (Rockwell, of course). The pair had a working relationship, too, which brought the musicals Damn Yankees, Chicago, Cabaret and All That Jazz to life (the latter of which was an autobiographical project for Fosse).
Without further ado, though, here’s the trailer…
And here’s the teaser that came before it…
And here’s the official synopsis…
Bob Fosse is a visionary filmmaker and one of theater’s most influential choreographers and directors. Gwen Verdon is the greatest Broadway dancer of all time. Fosse/Verdon will tell the story of these two brilliant, complicated individuals – the love they shared, the art they created, and the price they paid in the pursuit of greatness.
Hamilton writer/star Lin-Manuel Miranda is involved as an executive producer on Fosse/Verdon, with the play’s director Thomas Kail also on board. Steven Levenson, who wrote Dear Evan Hansen, is also working on the show behind the scenes.
The show will premiere on FX in America on April 9th. The BBC has the UK broadcast rights, but hasn’t confirmed the British release date just yet.
We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
