Fox has renewed The Orville for season 3, confirming that Seth MacFarlane’s sci-fi comedy will return for another batch of episodes. Here’s everything you need to know about the renewal…
Created by Family Guy and American Dad mastermind Seth MacFarlane, The Orville debuted on our screens back in 2017. The show has built a loving fan-base and continued to deliver decent ratings for Fox, so it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that the show has been renewed for a third run on our screens.
However, as TV Line‘s announcement of the news states, there is one surprising element at play here: Fox is now owned by Disney, and it’s nice to see that the Mouse House will continue to support more adult-oriented creators like MacFarlane, despite the company’s traditional output being predominantly family-friendly.
Here’s how MacFarlane reacted to the news…

The second season of The Orville wrapped up its run in April, so fans have been waiting for a couple of weeks for information regarding the show’s future. It’s good to know that the show will be coming back.
Season 1 consisted of 12 episodes and season 2 had 14, but it remains to be seen how many instalments will make up The Orville season 3. Another thing we don’t know is the premiere date for the next season.
As we hear more, though, we’ll be sure to keep you updated…
