Friday Night Dinner series 6 will soon become a reality, with Channel 4 announcing that the show will return for another batch of episodes. Isn’t that a lovely bit of squirrel?
TV Wise shared the news, confirming that the Simon Bird, Tamsin Greig, Paul Ritter, Tom Rosenthal and Mark Heap-starring series will resume production later this year, with a view to broadcast Friday Night Dinner series 6 at some point in 2020.
Fiona McDermott, Channel 4’s Head of Comedy, said this: “We’re delighted that audiences love Friday Night Dinner as much as we do at Channel 4, and are thrilled that it will be returning. It’s always brilliant when audiences for a show grow over time and we’re thrilled that more and more people are falling in love with the Goodmans. We are so pleased to be making a new series with Robert [Popper, the show’s creator] and Big Talk.”
Kenton Allen of Big Talk Productions, the company that produces the series, added this: “Friday Night Dinner has grown into a monster hit for Channel 4 and it’s incredibly exciting to see the audience growing every season as new viewers fall in love with the antics of the Goodman household. It’s also incredible that Robert has singlehandedly written and produced all 31 episodes so far, which must make him one of the most prolific comedy writer/producers working today. We’re incredibly grateful to Channel 4 for letting him have another go. Fingers crossed!”
We’ll keep you posted as we hear more about the show’s return to our screens.
