Gotham, the DC Entertainment detective drama set within the early years of Bruce Wayne’s vigilante development, has struggled to find a home on UK screens.
UPDATE: We now have a start date, too! Tuesday April 10th at 9pm is when you can expect the show to start on E4.
In the US, Gotham is a Fox show and it always has been. But here in the UK, Channel 5 aired the first two seasons before dropping the series. Gotham season 3 then showed up on UK Netflix, a long while after its debut on American screens.
When Gotham season 4 kicked off its stateside run, way back in September 2017, it was unclear if it would get a televised showing here in the UK. Now, finally, we know the answer to that riddle: E4 will broadcast Gotham season 4 for UK viewers, it’s been announced.
E4, which is also the UK home for Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the geek-friendly series Supernatural, seems like a sensible place to put Gotham. Although a formal Gotham season 4 UK release date is yet to be confirmed, E4 has promised that the fourth run of the show will appear ‘soon’ on its channel.
Gotham season 4 has the subheading ‘A Dark Knight’, which gives you a hint as to how close Bruce (David Mazouz) is getting to his destiny as Gotham’s superhero protector. Meanwhile, detectives Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) continue struggling against Gotham’s criminally insane element (Robin Lord Taylor’s Penguin, Cory Michael Smith’s Riddler, Camren Bicondova’s Catwoman and Erin Richards’ Barbara Kean all return).
