It’s nice to know, before His Dark Materials season 1 reaches our screens, that the show’s future is already secured. It’s been confirmed that the second series of the show will film in Wales in the summer of 2019.
KFTV reports that, “As with the first season, production on [His Dark Materials] Season 2 is based at Wolf Studios Wales in Cardiff, a facility that offers six stages and has also hosted the first season of Bad Wolf’s TV drama A Discovery of Witches for Sky.”
Filming on series 1 is believed to have wrapped in late 2018, with a star-studded cast coming together to bring Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials book series to life. Logan‘s Dafne Keen and Brit icon James McAvoy are among the show’s main cast, and we’d very much expect them to come back for the second series.
This is, of course, the second attempt to turn the fantastical fiction of Pullman’s series into a live-action entertainment event. A film entitled The Golden Compass was released in 2007, featuring such stars as Daniel Craig and Nicole Kidman.
Here’s hoping that the TV series has better luck, since the movie franchise never took off after its initial outing.
As we hear more, we’ll let you know.
