From soggy bottoms to bloody murders, former Bake Off presenters Mel and Sue are set to head up a new Sky One sitcom named Hitmen. The six-part series – which, as you might have guessed, focuses on a couple of hitmen – is set to air next year.
Mel Giedroyc’s Jamie has been described as an “affable goof” and Sue Perkins’ Fran is a “super sensitive” soul that isn’t sure about her career choices. Neither of those personalities sounds ideal for contract killing, which is, we assume, where the humour in this assassination sitcom will come from.
Myfanwy Moore, who previously worked on Little Britain, Tracey Ullman’s Show and The Mitchell And Webb Situation, will executive produce Hitmen for Sky One. She’s quoted as saying this about ths show:
“We are so excited to be working with the truly fantastic female comedy partnership that is Mel and Sue, who can brandish bullets and banter brilliantly in equal measure.”
Sky’s head of comedy, Jon Montague, promises that Hitmen will “capture the chemistry of Mel and Sue and their playfulness in a scripted comedy world.”
This all sounds rather exciting to us, and we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop as we hear more.
