“It hasn’t found the mainstream audience it was hoped,” a BBC spokesperson has said.

Overnight ratings for the show have dropped from a debut of 4.5 million last month to just 2.6 million for the latest episode.

Written and created by Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files, Strike Back), the eight-part series concludes on BBC One next Thursday.
