Ascension will see Elba play two lead roles; Egyptian polymath Imhotep in 3000 B.C. and a brilliant astronomer in the near future, reports Deadline.

Elba will also serve as executive producer on the project, which is currently being pitched to TV channels in the UK.

The Prometheus star will return as Detective Chief Investigator John Luther in Series 3 of BBC One’s crime drama Luther later this year. Written by creator Neil Cross, the four-part mini-series will be co-produced by BBC America.
