The Frankenstein Chronicles will return to ITV Encore for a second season.
Incorporating elements from Mary Shelley’s Gothic literary classic, the period crime drama launched last November, starring Sean Bean (Game of Thrones, Sharpe) as Inspector John Marlott.
The Frankenstein Chronicles is set in Georgian London in 1827 and was created by Benjamin Ross (The Young Poisoner’s Handbook) and writer Barry Langford (Torte Bluma).
Season 2 will begin filming in Northern Ireland in January 2017.
Executive producer Tracey Scoffield commented: “We are thrilled to be working once more with Sean Bean in the role of John Marlott, who is a returning hero like no other. We want to be more ambitious than ever with Season 2.”
ITV’s Controller of Drama, Victoria Fea commented: “The Frankenstein Chronicles certainly resonated with viewers and we’re delighted to be working with Sean Bean, Tracey Scoffield and her production team for a second series.”
