ITV has confirmed that The Bay is coming back for a second series next year. Here’s everything we know about the coastal crime show’s comeback…
TV Wise reports that The Bay’s first series attracted “a consolidated audience of 7 million viewers and a 27% share across its six week run.”
ITV was clearly impressed, because they’ve gone ahead and ordered series 2 just a week after the first series wrapped up.
The show was created by Daragh Carville, who will return to lead the second series as it enters production later this year. Morven Christie, who stars as DS Lisa Armstrong, will also be back.
“I am delighted with the audience response to The Bay,” said ITV’s drama boss Poly Hill. “It’s very real and beautifully made by everyone involved, and as a result it held an audience of 7 million across 6 weeks. I think that audience will enjoy seeing where Daragh takes Lisa and the team, when they return with a new case for series 2 next year.”
Catherine Oldfield, one of the show’s executive producers, said this: “We are so thrilled that The Bay found such a large audience and that the fantastic world and characters brought to life by Daragh Carville will be returning to ITV. It was an incredible production, shot in a beautiful location and thanks to ITV’s belief in the story we wanted to tell, we get to do it all over again.”
The Bay series 2 will air on ITV in 2020.
