The one-off 120-minute adaptation of The Making of a Marchioness, a ‘forgotten’ classic novel by The Secret Garden author Frances Hodgson Burnett, will also star Linus Roache (Titanic) as her nephew and wealthy widower, Lord James Walderhurst, alongside James D’Arcy (Cloud Atlas) as Walderhurst’s unscrupulous nephew Captain Alec Osborn.
Lydia Wilson (The Crimson Petal and White) will play the film’s heroine, Emily, and Hasina Haque (Kidnap and Ransom) will take the role of Captain Alec’s exotic wife Hester.
The Making of a Lady will tell the story of the well born, educated but penniless Emily who grew up hoping she would marry for love, but has come to realise that her priority must be survival.
