The BBC has announced that a brand new mini-series of Jonathan Creek has been commissioned.
BBC One confirmed on Twitter: “Following on from the special at Easter, Jonathan Creek will return for a mini-series with three more episodes!”
Actor Alan Davies added: “Jonathan Creek fans, we are making 3 one hour eps in the autumn. No other details yet, hopefully I will be playing Creek.”
The crime drama will return this Easter with ‘The Clue of the Savant’s Thumb’, a new 90-minute episode guest starring Rik Mayall (Bottom), Joanna Lumley (Absolutely Fabulous), Sarah Alexander (Green Wing) and Nigel Planer (The Young Ones).

Series 4 aired in 2003-2004 on BBC One and was followed by ‘The Grinning Man’ in 2009 and ‘The Judas Tree’ in 2010.
Davies had previously hinted earlier this year: “[Creator] David Renwick’s got a bit of a twinkle in his eye and I think he’s enjoyed getting back to it and while BBC1 are keen on it, maybe we will do more…”
‘The Clue of the Savant’s Thumb’ will see Creek and fellow investigator Joey Ross (Sheridan Smith) drawn into a complex case involving a secret society, seemingly supernatural events at a girls’ boarding school, and the miraculous disappearance of a body in front of three witnesses.
