The FX network has confirmed that Legion season 3 is happening, before Legion season 2 has even finished its run. Creator Noah Hawley and star Dan Stevens will both return for another season of the Marvel drama, which blends superpowered mutants with mental health issues and trippy narrative twists. Legion has fast become one of the most ambitious comic book adaptations ever produced for TV, and it’s exciting to know that it isn’t ending any time soon.
FX’s Eric Schrier said this about the renewal:
“Legion has redefined the superhero drama and exceeded all expectations as the intensity and revelation build through the second season. We are incredibly proud of Noah Hawley’s achievement and are honored to continue the series as it pushes the boundaries of conventional television storytelling. We are also grateful for the contributions of our executive producers, John Cameron, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, and Jeph Loeb with Marvel Television, as well as our outstanding cast and crew of this groundbreaking show.”
The series – which also stars Rachel Keller, Jean Smart, Jeremie Harris, Amber Midthunder, Bill Irwin, Aubrey Plaza, Jemaine Clement, Hamish Linklater, and Navid Negahban – is expected to return to our screens in 2019.
Plot details for Legion season 3 have not been announced as of yet, which makes sense given that season 2 is still going on. Of course, we’ll keep you posted as more news comes to light.
