Channel 4 has acquired the UK premiere broadcast rights to Fargo, the new US drama series inspired by the 1996 movie.
The ten-part series will begin airing in the US next month and will arrive on Channel 4 later this spring.
Adapted by novelist/writer Noah Hawley (Bones, The Unusuals), Fargo follows an all-new “true crime” story featuring a brand new case and new characters.
Billy Bob Thornton (A Simple Plan) stars as Lorne Malvo, a rootless, manipulative man who meets and forever changes the life of small town insurance salesman Lester Nygaard, played by Sherlock star Martin Freeman.
The cast also includes Colin Hanks (Dexter), Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad), Allison Tolman (Sordid Lives) and Oliver Platt (Frost/Nixon).
Channel 4 Chief Creative Officer Jay Hunt commented: “Fargo is a perfect Channel 4 show – a dark comedy, beautifully directed with a stunning cast. We are excited to be bringing it to a British audience.”
