Matt Smith joins Edgar Wright’s Last Night In Soho movie

Matt Smith is heading back to the big screen with Last Night In Soho, the latest film from Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright. Here’s everything we know about the film…

This project was announced when Wright, whose most recent film was Baby Driver, said this to Empire Magazine:

“I realised I had never made a film about central London – specifically Soho, somewhere I’ve spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years. With Hot Fuzz and Shaun Of The Dead you make movies about places you’ve lived in. This movie is about the London I’ve existed in.”

Last Night In Soho is described as a proper psychological thriller, and now we know a few of the people that will be in it.

A new report from Variety confirms that, alongside the already-announced Anya Taylor Joy, both Matt Smith and Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie (Leave No Trace) have both nabbed roles in the film.

Smith, of course, is beloved for his TV work in Doctor Who and The Crown. He has also made a few breaks into movies, with roles in the likes of Terminator: Genisys, Lost River and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. He also has a role in Sony’s upcoming superhero-adjacent vampire film, Morbius.

Last Night In Soho is expected to film in 2019, with Wright working from a script by Krysty Wilson-Cairns.

We’ll be sure to keep you posted as we hear more.
