Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh has joined the cast of Strike Back‘s final season.
Season 5 of Sky1’s action drama has recommenced production in Hungary, following star Sullivan Stapleton’s head injury in Thailand earlier this year.
Yeoh is best known for her roles in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and the 1997 James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies. In her first ever television role, she will play the wife of the British Ambassador to Thailand.
Yeoh commented: “I’m delighted to be joining the cast of Strike Back and incredibly excited to be working with Sky and Left Bank. As an actor, it’s always challenging to try new things. She is a fascinating character and I can’t wait to play her.”
Blackadder actor Tim McInnerny will play her husband, while Mad Dogs star Max Beesley also joins the show as Ray McQueen, an ex-pat gangster.
Beesley commented: “It is a pleasure to come and spend some time fighting it out with Section 20 on Strike Back. The production values speak volumes and Sullivan and Phillip are guys I know and enjoy working with, along with the very talented Michelle Yeoh. The character Ray McQueen is an absolute gem to play.”
Season 4’s Sullivan Stapleton, Philip Winchester and Robson Green are all returning as counterterrorism operatives Sgt. Damien Scott and Sgt. Michael Stonebridge and Section 20 leader, Col. Philip Locke, while Milauna Jackson and Michelle Lukes will also be back as as Sgt. Julia Richmond and DEA Special Agent Kim Martinez.
The new ten-part season will air on Sky1 in 2015.
