Based on Bram Stoker’s classic novel, the ten-part series is a co-production with NBCUniversal and stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers (The Tudors) as Dracula.

Kretschmann will play Abraham Van Helsing, although in this retelling of Dracula, Van Helsing is “not the classic hero we all have come to know”. The charaacter is described as “a brilliant professor with a seemingly cool exterior”, whose “obsession with revenge and power may make him a more dangerous threat to the public than Dracula himself”.

Jackson-Cohen will play the handsome Jonathan Harker, “a tenacious and slightly gauche journalist desperate to climb the ranks of aristocracyand stay there”.

Merlin star Katie McGrath joined the cast last month as Lucy Westenra, “aristocratic London’s sexy, social butterfly who has a penchant for gossip, flirting and all things glamorous”.
