Lead actors Jeremy Piven, Katherine Kelly, Aisling Loftus and Frances O’Connor will all return for Series 2, alongside several new cast members.
Polly Walker (Clash of the Titans) joins the cast as Bohemian novelist Delphine Day, Cal Macaninch (Downton Abbey) will play Head of Fashion, Mr Thackeray, and Aidan McArdle (Garrow’s Law) will play Lady Mae Loxley’s husband.
Ten new episodes will be filmed on location in Greater London and Kent, transmitting on ITV next year to coincide with the centenary of the First World War.
Based upon the life of American entrepreneur Harry Gordon Selfridge, Series 2 picks up the story in 1914 as the famous Oxford Street store celebrates its 5th anniversary of trading.
Executive producer Kate Lewis commented: “The story of Harry Selfridge, his family and colleagues has drawn in a strong drama audience and we are delighted by the response. The second series will allow us to build on this success and it is a fantastic opportunity to focus on 1914 during the centenary of the Great War.”
Creator Andrew Davies (Bleak House) will return to the writing team, alongside fellow writers Kate Brooke (Case Sensitive), Kate O’Riordan (The Kindness of Strangers) and Dan Sefton (Death in Paradise).
