The nominations have now closed for 2016’s Young Sports Personality of the Year.
Nominations closed last Friday and were by sports governing bodies via the Youth Sport Trust.
CBBC series Blue Peter has teamed up with BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year again this year, offering one lucky young viewer – selected from those who’ve applied for a Blue Peter sport badge – the opportunity to join the panel in deciding this year’s shortlist.
All the award’s nominees have to be 17 or under on 1 January 2016 and 2016.
2015’s ceremony saw gymnast Ellie Downie take the award, after she became the first British female to win an individual all-around medal for Great Britain at the European Championships. She claimed bronze at the age of only fifteen years old.
Previous winners have included tennis player Andy Murray, diver Tom Daley, Paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds and footballer Wayne Rooney.
This year’s award winner will be revealed during on Sunday 18 December during the BBC Sports Personality of the Year show, which this year comes live from the Genting Arena in Birmingham.
