Netflix is developing a Resident Evil TV show, with the involvement of Constantin Film (the production company behind the Milla Jovovich movies). Read on for everything we know.
The trusted trade publication Deadline Hollywood broke the news, reporting that Constantin Film will serve as the studio on this fresh reinterpretation of Capcom’s video game series, which is believed to be a Netflix Original Series the world over.
It is believed to be very early doors in terms of the Resident Evil Netflix show’s development, with the streaming service still searching for a showrunner to helm the project.
In lieu of an official statement from Netflix, this excerpt from Deadline’s article provides the best information we have regarding what this show will be like:
“I hear the plan is for the series to expand the Resident Evil universe and deepen the exiting mythology. I hear the series will keep the basic premise, which also served as a setup for the movie franchise. The drama series will explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus. While the project is in early stages, the series is expected to incorporate all of Resident Evil’s signature elements, including action sequences and “easter eggs.””
There is also a Resident Evil movie reboot on the way, from Johannes Roberts, so it’ll be interesting to see if/how that connects to the series.
As we hear more, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
