Ruth Negga’s co-stars have nothing but praise for the actress’s Oscar-nominated turn in 2016 movie Loving, as proven in this behind-the-scenes look at the film released ahead of its DVD release.
The Irish star made waves in Hollywood last year with her quiet, moving turn as real-world activist Mildred Loving, who helped change the law that refused to recognise the then-illegal interratial marriage with her white childhood sweetheart.
Of course, British audiences are already well aware of Negga’s considerable talents, following memorable turns in series including E4’s Misfits, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, and Preacher on Amazon Prime.
And it looks like Negga will be sticking to her current small screen role of Tulip for now, after she revealed to The Telegraph that she hasn’t looked at any film scripts since her awards season success.
“To close the door on all that heightened emotion and excitement, to hear Meryl Streep call your name, or walk on the iconic red carpet at Cannes, and then find yourself staring into the abyss would have been quite a shock,” she said. “Thankfully, I got to come back to a job with people I love and admire.”
Watch actors such as Colin Firth and Joel Edgerton talk about working with Negga in the video below.
Loving is available now on Blu-ray, DVD and digital download
