No, we haven’t started reporting politics – the first images from Tracey Breaks the News with comedian Tracey Ullman are here and they’re rather uncanny.
It’s first episode airing on the one year anniversary of Brexit, the series will be more topical than ever, and is just the latest of the BBC’s big push towards satire in today’s politically-charged culture. May won’t be the only politician to ‘appear’, either, with Angela Merkel and Nicola Sturgeon set to feature.
The synopsis for the show reads: “A political and topical offering from award-winning actress, impressionist and comedian Tracey Ullman. For the first time Tracey is taking on an impression of Theresa May, alongside favourites Angela Merkel and Nicola Sturgeon.
“The show is a mix of famous political figures and everyday people reacting to the results of the general election and the anniversary of the Brexit vote. As the election result will have global implications, the show also looks at the reaction of the Russians, Europeans and Melania Trump.”
Tracey Breaks the News airs on BBC1 tonight (Friday 23 June) at 9:30pm.
