Three new two-part stories will feature Hannah Murray (Game of Thrones) as Cassie, Jack O’Connell (300: Rise of an Empire) as Cook and Kaya Scodelario (Wuthering Heights) as Effy. Lily Loveless and Kat Prescott will also appear in guest roles as Naomi and Emily.
Written by series creators Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain with Jess Brittain, Series 7 will go into “new territory” and will be “more adult, more uncompromising”. The stories will see the characters now in their early twenties, “struggling to find a direction and a focus in unforgiving times”.
Elsley commented: “I am delighted that three emblematic actors, currently embarking on successful movie careers are returning to E4 and Skins. They will play their iconic characters as they emerge into adulthood, and bring new challenging stories of young adults, grappling with life in Cameron’s Britain, to vivid and entertaining focus.”
Sophie Gardiner, Commissioning Editor of Channel 4 Drama added: “Always innovative, always truthful, Skins is a show that defined a generation. That generation is growing up. Skins seven catches up with our characters as they continue in their path to adulthood, finding out who they are going to be, and who their friends really are. The new direction that Bryan and Jamie have taken Skins will thrill and entertain fans as they negotiate the surprises that life throws at you when you’re just starting out. I can’t wait to see some of Skins‘ most loved and memorable characters back on E4.”
Series 7 will be filmed in Manchester and London from October to January and will air on E4 next spring.
