It’s a real crazy show where anything Indiegogoes… Sorry.
As if to prove that the lure of nostalgia knows know bounds, there’s a new crowdfunding campaign to bring back Fun House.
The show, hosted by extravagantly coiffured DJ Pat Sharpe alongside twins Melanie and Martina Grant, ran from 1989-99. Made by STV, it featured a mix of crazy games, quizzes and challenges – all lubricated by copious amounts of that 90s staple: gunge.
Oh, yeah, and it had that theme tune.
The show is not planning on making a return to TV yet, however. This time around a company is offering any big kids who fancy it the chance to actually play in a modern version of the Fun House themselves
An Indiegogo campaign is looking to recreate an adult version of the show as an ‘experience’ where backers can “Leave [their] adult troubles at the door, let loose and come and escape the real world and play!”
The team behind the plan has been working with the original Fun House creator to design and build an updated version that is as authentic as possible (sadly, minus the gunge – thanks to its insurers). That means it will essentially be a super-sized soft play area for adults, where they’ll get to play in teams to complete a series of challenges that earn advantages when their time comes to take on the Fun House itself.
Early bird tickets start from £25, with group packages going up to £2,000 – for which you can get a Fun House experience hosted by none other than Pat Sharp and The Twins themselves.
You can see a bit of what they’re planning in the video below…
