UPDATE: It’s definite. MGM has announced a brand new Stargate television series, that’ll be going by the name of Stargate: Origins. It’ll also, in America at least, be shown on its own streaming platform, going by the name of Stargate Command. Ten episodes of the new show have been ordered, which will premiere in the autumn. No UK broadcaster has been announced.

Here’s the trailer…

EARLIER STORY

Speculation time, with the news that a Stargate announcement is set to be made at this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con. Things have been quiet in the realm of Stargate TV shows since the cancellation of Stargate: Universe back in 2011. There’s been talk of a potential new movie – or, indeed, movies – but that was a few years ago now (and the filmmakers concerned gave us the disappointing Independence Day: Resurgence, which can’t have helped). No news has been forthcoming since.

However, the official Stargate website – Stargate Command – has now revealed an announcement is coming tomorrow, and inevitably, there’s some hope for a new television show. No further clues have been forthcoming so far – heck, it could be a videogame, even – but we’ll let you know when we know.
