Steve Carell is all set to star in Space Force, a new sci-fi series on Netflix. He’s reteaming with The Office: An American Workplace creator/showrunner Greg Daniels to bring the project to life.
Netflix announced the existence of Space Force with this video…
The trailer doesn’t show as any footage of Carell in action, but it does give us this summary of the basic plot, which also serves as an effective way of establishing the tone of the series:
On June 18, 2018 the Federal Government announced the creation of a 6th major division of the United States Armed Forces.
The goal of the new branch is “to defend satellites from attack” and “perform other space-related tasks.”
Or something.
This is the story of the men and women who have to figure it out.
This is, indeed, a series that seems to be inspired by the real-life Space Force that has been created by Donald Trump’s administration.
Steve Carell and Greg Daniels created the show together, and it will be interesting to see how much of their shared history in workplace comedy will seep into the show.
As we hear more about Space Force, we’ll be sure to bring you all the latest updates.
