Production has started on the new series of David Jason’s BBC One sitcom  Still Open All Hours on location in Doncaster and at the studios in Teddington.

Following the success of last year’s one-off special, Jason reprise his role as Granville, running the corner shop with his son Leroy (James Baxter). We follow Granville’s antics as he comes up with new schemes to make money and continues his pursuit of old flame Mavis (Maggie Ollerenshaw) under the beady eye of her sister Madge (Brigit Forsyth).

Written by Roy Clarke, the six-part series also sees the return of original characters Nurse Gladys Emmanuel (Lynda Baron) and Mrs Featherstone, aka The Black Widow (Stephanie Cole).

Also back from last December’s special is Johnny Vegas as the pessimistic Eric, Nina Wadia as Mrs Hussein and Kulvinder Ghir as Cyril.

Tim Healy joins the cast as Gastric, a man whose stomach has a mind of its own.
