Taskmaster, the Dave show where comedians complete wacky challenges set by Alex Horne in the hope of impressing Greg Davies and taking home a collection of naff old tat, has broken its own ratings records.
The series, which Alex Horne created, has reached 1.44 million viewers so far with its seventh series. This is a 7% increase compared to series 6’s numbers, making Taskmaster series 7 the most-watched run of the show to date.
In terms of highly-sought-after ABC1 demographic, Taskmaster series 7 saw a 13% increase compared for series 6. And with regards to 16-34 year-olds, the numbers are up by 11%. Basically, the show is a rollicking success for Dave.
Little Alex Horne offered this statement on the news:
“I recently watched an episode from the first series of Taskmaster and I was amazed at how fresh-faced and cheerful I looked. I had no idea then that I’d still be serving such a powerful Taskmaster now or that I would have been demeaned in so many different ways in the intervening 50 episodes. I am a very lucky little man.”
And Luke Hales, the director of Dave, said this:
“If there is one show on Dave that really sums up the heart, soul and ambition of the channel, it is Taskmaster. The show was brilliant from the off and continues to go from strength to strength – it feels as fresh, funny and distinct as it did back in 2015. It’s great to see that we can continue to grow the show even after seven series and I don’t think we have reached the ceiling yet, especially now we can more accurately measure its consumption across all platforms.”
Huzzah for Taskmaster and well done to all involved! We’ll bring you more news as we hear it.
