Despite announcing the end of the show at last year’s emotional Comic-Con panel, the cast and creator of Teen Wolf returned to San Diego for a final farewell for fans.
Along with some speeches and good memories, Tyler Posey, Dylan O’Brien et al brought with them a new trailer for the second half of season six, and a video from Superman himself – Tyler Hoechlin – apologising for his absence. Also returning for one final hurrah are Colton Haynes, who was also absent, and Charlie Carver.
During the panel, O’Brien said: “It’s nothing but emotional now that it’s over. This is my first part ever and I entered this whole new phase in my life [with this role]. Seven years later, it’s a family and will always be a family. It makes me super emotional — and makes me shaky just talking about it.”
It was also announced this week that there could be a possible reboot in the works before Teen Wolf has had a chance to wrap up its sixth and final (in this form) season. According to reports, MTV and creator Jeff Davis are speaking about how to continue the franchise.
Nothing has been confirmed, but a classic ‘new class’ reboot is possible within a “couple of years”, and – more novel – a ten episode podcast series in the spirit of Serial.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, MTV president Chris McCarthy said: “These characters and these stories have hit a peak. We are talking with Jeff about how do we actually keep that franchise alive. And the beauty of the evolution of media is you can see the series going on through a series of podcasts and then see a resurrection of a new class in a couple of years.”
Teen Wolf also stars Dylan Sprayberry, Shelley Hennig, Cody Christian, Khylin Rhambo, Linden Ashby and Melissa Ponzio. Watch the trailer below.
Teen Wolf airs on Netflix in the UK.
