Channel 4 has set The Handmaid’s Tale season 2 UK air date for May 20th, 2018. The second season of Hulu’s Margaret Atwood adaption premiered in America on April 25th, which means that British fans will be a little way behind the pace, just as they were with season 1 last year.

It’s unclear why The Handmaid‘s Tale season 2 UK release date couldn’t be closer to the American debut of the new episodes, but the show’s sizeable British fan base will surely still be happy that The Handmaid’s Tale is coming back to Channel 4 to deliver another dose of dystopian drama.

Most of Atwood’s source novel was covered in season 1 of the show, which leaves The Handmaid’s Tale season 2 to cover new ground and explore more stories featuring Offred (Elisabeth Moss), Ofglen (Alexis Bledel) and the other handmaids. Joseph Fiennes’ Commander Fred Waterford will also return in the new episodes, alongside his wife Serena, who is played by Yvonne Strahovski.

Offred’s ongoing pregnancy will play a central role in The Handmaid’s Tale season 2, as Moss’ protagonist continuously searches for a way to free her child from the horrors of Gilead and its warped society of female subjugation.

We’ll bring you more news on The Handmaid’s Tale season 2 as we hear it. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for May 20th, when the season 2 premiere will air on Channel 4.
