The writers of BBC One’s The Missing have revealed that they feel “a responsibility” to provide viewers with closure in next week’s finale.
Starring James Nesbitt (The Hobbit), Frances O’Connor (Mr Selfridge) and Tcheky Karyo (GoldenEye), the eight-part abduction thriller has been airing on Tuesday nights on BBC One with around 7.7 million viewers tuning in each week.

Jack Williams told The Guardian: “All we can say is that this [season] will have closure to it … I don’t want someone at the BBC to kill me!”
He added: “We don’t want people to leave feeling frustrated. You do feel a responsibility. I hope people do enjoy the ending. I think it’s very true to the very first hour that you see.”
A second season of The Missing is apparently “in negotiations”.
