The New Pope will get underway on Sky Atlantic on Sunday 12th January 12, it’s been confirmed.

The New Pope picks up with Pius XIII in a coma. After an unpredictable and mysterious turn of events, the Secretary of State Voiello succeeds in the enterprise of having Sir John Brannox, a moderate English aristocrat, charming and sophisticated, placed on the papal throne, adopting the name John Paul III.

Jude Law will reprise his role as Lenny Belardo, aka Pope Pius XIII, in The New Pope, starring opposite John Malkovich.

Paolo Sorrentino, Umberto Contarello and Stefano Bises wrote The New Pope scripts, with Lorenzo Mieli and Mario Gianani returning as producers. Sharon Stone and Marilyn Manson have guest spots in the show, which filmed in Italy this year.
