Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, creators of the Westworld TV series, are working with Amazon to produce a new sci-fi show…
A new series at Amazon called The Peripheral, which will adapt William Gibson’s futuristic mystery thriller novel of the same name, has found its lead.
Suspiria actress Chloe Grace Moretz has signed on to play Flynne Fisher, “a woman trying to hold together the pieces of her broken family in a forgotten corner of tomorrow’s America,” says Variety. “Flynne is smart, ambitious and doomed. She has no future – until the future comes calling for her.”
Amazon ordered a full season’s worth of scripts from Westworld‘s Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan in 2018 for the project. It’s been confirmed that Vincenzo Natali (Cube, Splice) will direct it for them.
The main characters in Gibson’s novel Flynne and her brother, Burton. At the behest of Burton (a former marine who suffered brain trauma thanks to some cybernetic implants), Flynne takes a job as a security guard in a virtual world. But when she witnesses what appears to be an actual murder, a twisty plot is set in motion. Indeed, this sounds like it could make for a very effective, and very high budget, TV series.
