Jodie Comer, star of Thirteen and The White Princess, has joined the cast of BBC America’s Killing Eve, from Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
The eight-episode series is based on the novellas by Luke Jennings, which follow a psychopathic assassin and the woman who must track her down. The pair enter into a tense cat and mouse game, with the show promising humour and action in equal measure.
Comer will play Villanelle, the killer, while Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy) will play the titular Eve, reports Deadline. “The young actress received acclaim for her leading role in BBC Three’s Thirteen, for which she was also nominated for a BAFTA, and has since appeared in Starz’ The White Princess.
Waller-Bridge will act as showrunner and executive producer alongside Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris.
Sarah Barnett, president of BBC America, said: “Underneath the deceptively simple and entertaining surface is a subversive, funny, obsessive relationship between two women, that plays out across some of the most and least glamorous locations imaginable.”
