Top of the Lake will return to BBC Two next year for six new episodes.

Written by Jane Campion (The Piano) and Gerard Lee, the story will be set in Sydney, Australia.

Starring Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men), Holly Hunter (The Piano), Peter Mullan (Trainspotting) and David Wenham (The Lord Of The Rings), the first season aired last summer on BBC Two.

Set in the remote mountains of New Zealand, the story followed the disappearance of a five months-pregnant 12-year-old named Tui.
