The creator of The Durrells has confirmed that there will be another season next year.
Based upon Gerald Durrell’s classic trilogy of Corfu memoirs, the family drama launched in April 2016 and tells the story of Louisa Durrell, who makes a radical change and uproots her four unruly ‘children’ Larry, Leslie, Margo and Gerry, from Bournemouth to start a new life in Corfu in the 1930s.
Season 2 began on ITV last month and is airing at 8pm on Sunday evenings on ITV.
Speaking at the BFI & Radio Times Television Festival, The Durrells writer Simon Nye promised “some exotic new animals” in Season 3, confirming that the show will be returning.
Nye added that scripts for the next season have been written and that filming will begin in Corfu very soon.
